LUCAMA, N.C. – Josh Berry entered Saturday night’s double header at Southern National Motorsports Park having mixed results at the .40-mile oval. Berry left the track Saturday as a winner in the night’s second race.
After finishing fifth in the opening 75-lap race, Berry and his No. 88 Speedco team opted to change right-rear tires because of a blistered tire. Track rules forced Berry to start from 14th for the second 75-lap race.
Berry wasted little time maneuvering through the pack while conserving his tires. By the time officials declared a competition caution at lap 43, the No. 88 ran fourth. Going back green, Berry shot to second and began pressuring track points leader Tommy Lemons for the lead.
Several laps of battling side-by-side for the race lead resulted in Berry taking over the race lead. Not far behind him was two-time Late Model National Champion Lee Pulliam. As the laps clicked away, Berry’s lead over Pulliam slowly grew.
By race’s end, Berry pulled away to a 1.067 second victory of Pulliam, Lemons, Johnathan Findley and Myatt Snider.

"I feel like we needed the first 75 lapper to feel out the car to see what we would have there since we haven't raced there all year. We were a bit off, but made some good adjustments in between races that helped the car. It is pretty awesome that we were able to get a win in the 2nd one. We have had a great season so far with 5 wins, and races like tonight really are a confidence booster heading into Iowa in a few weeks."
