Josh Berry put JR Motorsports in Victory Lane on Saturday night at Hickory Motor Speedway, and he did it the easy way. Berry started the No. 88 Speedco Chevrolet on the pole and led all 100 laps of the late model feature to earn his 16th career victory - all with JR Motorsports.
Berry held the top spot from the green and held on through several caution periods over the 100 laps. The final caution waved with 45 laps remaining, but Berry kept his JRM machine on the point the rest of the way.
Shane Lee was second, followed by Landon Huffman, Dexter Canipe Jr. and Matt Piercy.
Berry, who has run both NASCAR XFINITY and NASCAR K&N Series events the past two seasons, is the defending track champion at Hickory. The triumph on Saturday was his first of the season. Last year, he won 11 late model events on the way to the track title.
Josh Berry, driver No. 88 Speedco team
"We had a great car tonight. The Speedco Chevy was awesome from start to finish, and I'm glad to get a win early this season. We had good cars but some misfortune towards the end of our first two races, so I'm glad to get a win. Hopefully we can continue our momentum and keep winning. That's our goal."
